Kent W. Cockson, a native Nebraskan, today resides on the Alabama Gulf Coast. A retired newspaper editor, his professional tenures during more than 42 years in daily newspapers and at news-wire services include Grand Island, Neb.; Pensacola, Fla.; USA Today in suburban Washington; Hattiesburg, Miss.; Tallahassee, Fla.; Melbourne, Fla.; Gainesville, Ga.; Mobile, Ala.,  and Savannah, Ga.
He is a January 1970 graduate of the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, where he was a Distinguished Military Graduate in the Army ROTC program. A U.S. Army veteran honorably discharged as a 1st lieutenant, Cockson served at Fort Knox, Ky. (1970), and in Nha Trang, Republic of South Vietnam (1971).
He is married to the former Sylvia Staton. They have four grown sons — Aaron, Jonas, Zak and Jon — all of whom were serving in 2001 as enlistees in the U.S. armed forces on 9/11.
And remember: Each of Cockson’s blog entries amounts to no more than the insignificant opinion of one bowl-legged, knock-kneed, club-footed, pigeon-toed, sawed-off, yellow-bellied, fish-faced, drip-lipped, droop-snooted, drizzle-pussed, anti-retromingent, disconnected, sewer-slogging, Republican-leaning, retired, round-housing redneck.
And when you “reply” to any of his blogs, he will almost always give you the last word.
